QUALIFICATIONS Required:

● Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Exceptionalities Licensure

● Experience in conducting evaluations, report writing, and case conference requirements

● Knowledgeable of IDEA, IAC Code - Article 7 and compliance monitoring

RESPONSIBLE TO: Wabash River Special Services Cooperative Director of Special Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher of Record:

● Will serve as a DHH liaison between Building Administrators, Special Educators, Paraprofessionals., Student Caseload, and Parents in assigned school corporation(s) and the WRSSC Director of Special Education.

● Will serve as a resource for General/Special Education teachers and Building Administrators in assigned school corporations regarding policy/procedures, rules/regulations and special education services for DHH students.

● Serve as members of the multi-disciplinary team in evaluation of students for programs/services in Special Education

● Will provide consultant services and technical assistance to the school staff of assigned corporations regarding curriculum, methodology and equipment

● Will conduct, participate and assist as a representative of WRSSC in order to determine compliance with the requirements of P.L. 101-476, P.L. 99-457, Article VII and other applicable state and federal regulations in all case conference with procedures and paperwork

● Will participate in pre-referral activities by conducting observations, assessments and /or interaction with General Education Intervention Teams

● Will participate in, conduct and organize needed in-service activities in assigned school corporations.

● Will assist in reviewing student’s special education records to adhere to federal and state regulations.

● Will ensure and monitor in their assigned school corporations the process of pre-referrals, referrals, evaluations, case conferences and placements of all DHH students.

● Will participate in professional training programs in order to keep abreast of current trends and issues, rules/regulations, research, case law, materials, and information regarding special education issues.

● Will perform other duties deemed necessary as directed by the Director of Special Education.
